Nearby, the traditions and heritage of the Gévaudan await you : The village of La Garde, with its feudal castle and its museum which bears proudly its title as France’s smallest museum in the Guinness Book of Records ; the medieval settlement of Le Malzieu, nestling in its valley. This ancient fortified village is one of the most beautiful in the area, and was made famous by the legend of the Beast of Gévaudan.
Less than half an hour away : - The Garabit viaduc was built in 1884 by Custave Eiffel’s company, and is constructed entirely of metal. Stretching 564.85m in length, it soars to 95m above the river Truyère. - The Museum of the Beast og Gévaudan at Sauges provides the perfect introduction to the most famous of all local legends.
